BAT WORLD SANCTUARY

The Largest Bat Sanctuary on Earth

Bat World Sanctuary is on the front line to end the mistreatment of bats. Each year we rescue hundreds of bats who might otherwise die. Lifetime sanctuary is given to non-releasable bats, including those that are orphaned, injured, and rescued from the exotic pet trade, zoos and research facilities. We are also involved in conservation efforts both locally and internationally.

Bat World was founded in 1994 and is a 501c3 non-profit, accredited organization with the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries.

Everyone gets a little jealous when they see Audrey having her breakfast.... 🦇

Between our mealworms, supplements, and fresh produce, we spend approximately $1500 a week to feed our over 600 non-releaseable bats. This bill is only going to go up as we enter into bat pup season, as each pup species requires their own specific multi ingredient milk formula. Donations like yours help us care for these miraculous little animals, and ensure they are given the care they deserve. ❤️

It’s salad time! Toco the African fruit bat is chomping down on some fresh lettuce. Every night, we put out heads of romaine and shredded lettuce all over their enclosure and man, is it party time when we do! Although lettuce doesn't offer much nutritionally, the bats adore it and wrestling bites out of the hanging nets is such a fun enrichment activity for them. 🙂

You can watch the bats anytime of day at https://batworld.org/bat-cams/. Dinner is just about the start, so be sure to take a peek!

Lettuce munch fest!

Get ready for the ultimate lettuce munch fest! One of our Florida girls were first in line to dive into the crisp and fresh lettuce this evening. The excitement as they indulge in one of their favorite foods is so cute! Look at that little tongue. 😂❤️

The Captain and The Florida girls are at it again, indulging in their favorite fruit, melon. They decided to collaborate and have some mischievous fun with their nightly melon snacks. Their friendship has grown strong and we love seeing how happy they are together. 😁

Check up day with Ella!

Ella who is an 18 year old African fruit bat, gets thorough check ups once a month as part of our commitment to providing exceptional care for our beloved bats. As a geribatric resident, Ella requires regular monitoring to maintain her quality of life, which we happily provide along with delicious melon treats. Following her examination, Ella takes it easy during the afternoons, preparing herself for another fun-filled night playing with her fellow bat friends! ❤️
